Our spring surveys are closed for registration.
To assist institutions during the initial shutdowns in spring of 2020, we created three surveys—one each for students, staff, and faculty— to help gauge the impact of institutions’ responses to COVID-19. The student and faculty surveys had optional modules about experiences with teaching and learning in the online environment initiated by the crisis. You can view PDF versions of the surveys through the buttons on the right.
More than 42,000 students at 65 institutions responded to the student survey. More than 6,200 staff members from 29 institutions responded to the staff survey and about 4,000 faculty from 28 institutions have completed the faculty survey.
You can read summaries of findings on the student, staff, and faculty surveys on our COVID-19 Response Information page.
We offered three new surveys in the fall of 2020 to check-in with students, faculty, and staff on how they were settling in and adjusting to their learning, teaching, and working environments at that time. You can view those surveys on the Fall 2020 COVID-19 Surveys page.
Using these Surveys
Any college or university may use or adapt these surveys to meet their internal needs. There is no charge. If your institution does this, please let us know and please cite HEDS as the source of the survey by adding “© 2020 Higher Education Data Sharing Consortium” to the survey. We do not permit anyone to sell these surveys or to include the questions from these surveys in a product that you sell. We also do not allow for-profit entities or other organizations to use or adapt these surveys without our permission.
We submitted all three surveys to the Wabash College Institutional Review Board (IRB) for review, and they were approved. The Wabash IRB letters are available here.
